Quantum Matter Amsterdam - quantum matter research group in Amsterdam

My present research focuses on the electronic structure and properties of quantum matter and emergent materials. The recent focus has been on topological insulators, oxide hetero-interfaces and nanowires. My focus is towards spectroscopic investigations of new quantum materials such as topological insulators, high Tc superconductors and complex oxides. van Heumen lab - Optical spectroscopy laboratory

Functional quantum materials from interacting and topological states of matter for future technologies. The emergence of ordered states in interacting electron systems through symmetry breaking phase transitions are a corner stone of contemporary condensed matter physics. The recent discovery of symmetry protected topological states of matter has uncovered a completely new paradigm to realise ordered states of matter. In the past I have also obtained funding from ICAM-I2CAM and the NSF.
